Robert E. "Bob" McDowell, age 86, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 with his family by his side.
Bob taught at the University of Texas at Arlington for over twenty years as Professor Emeritus. Before that, he taught at The University of Minnesota and at The University of Denver. He was also a Fulbright Professor at The University of Guyana for a year.
He retired and moved to a farm in East Texas briefly, then to Sun City, Georgetown when the retirement community opened in the 1990's.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judith McDowell of Georgetown; his daughter, Elizabeth McDowell of Austin; and his brother, James McDowell of Omaha. He is also survived by his niece Julie Strickland and family of Kansas; and his niece Lori Turner and family of Omaha.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's honor to Annette Robinson's Private Home Care for the elderly that meets residents' needs and provides personal and dignified care on a one-on-one level. 113 Golden Oak Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628.
A Reception in Rememberance of his life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the Reception Hall of Ramsey Funeral Home. 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633.
