Roger Joseph Byrne passed away on July 30, 2014. He was born on May 25, 1933, in Peosta, Iowa, to Marcella and Joseph Byrne. He graduated from Loras College, and received two further degrees from the University of Iowa. He served in the United States Army. Roger worked for FMC Corporation, Envirotech Corporation and ITT Corporation in various engineering and sales positions.
He was awarded the L.W. Meyer Memorial Award and the Engineered for Life Award from ITT. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in Iowa, Illinois and New Jersey. He was named Diplomate in the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Roger was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Water Environmental Federation, American Water Works Association, National Society of Professional Engineers, American Academy of Environmental Engineers and University of Iowa Alumni Association. He was an officer in the Reserve Corps of the Public Health Service, United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
Roger was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth, his mother and father, and his sister Grace Mark. He is survived by his wife Liga, Austin; son Joseph, Cranford, New Jersey; daughter Stephanie and her husband Stephen Haug, and grandsons Aidan Haug and Spencer Haug, Austin.
A funeral service for Roger will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 Ranch Road 620, Austin, at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16.
