STRICKLAND, W. Lamar|
W. Lamar Strickland, 92, died peacefully at 1:30 pm, on October 31, 2013 in his apartment at The Summit at Westlake Hills.
Lamar graduated from the University of Texas with a petroleum engineering degree. He worked in West Texas, Houston and Venezuela in the oil business. After retirement he spent time with several entrepreneurial endeavors, investments, and writing. He, also, spent many years assisting with the operation of Strickland Christian School, established by his wife, Corine Strickland in 1961.
Married on March 5, 1944, Lamar shared 56 years with Corine, the true joy of his life, until her death in 2001.
Lamar is survived by two sons, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX, 78745. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, with the service following at 3:00 pm.
