Billy Joe Mark

March 22, 1932 - August 9, 2014

Beloved husband, Billy Joe Mark, died peacefully at home attended by his devoted wife, Dorothy Mark, on August 9, 2014, in Aumsville, Oregon. Bill was born March 22, 1932 to Dora and Lester Mark in Woodward, Oklahoma. Bill's mother died when he was a baby and he was raised by his sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Hal McCormick. Bill lived on the farm with them until he went to college in Stillwater, Oklahoma. After two years of college and serving two years in the Army during the Korean War, Bill completed his education and received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He went to work for General Motors testing electronic equipment for the space program. Eventually Bill owned and operated a remote fly-in fishing lodge in Canada prior to moving to Seattle, Washington, where he eventually retired to Stayton, Oregon in 1993. Bill loved to hunt and fish. He fished the Columbia for salmon and the Snake River for catfish and crappie. He had a terrific hunting group whom he hunted with every fall. Bill was a member of a Good Sam camping group and enjoyed many fun outings with them. Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mark, and five stepchildren: Denise (Andy) Duran, Jim (Rebecca) Duncan Jr., Darrell (Tammy) Duncan, Ramona Duncan and Douglas Duncan, along with 11 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren. Bill was especially close to his niece and nephew, Mary Sue (Ed) Smith and Jim McCormick of Oklahoma, great-nephews and niece Larry (Linda) McCracken, Monte McCracken, and Gayla (David) Logan in Colorado. Bill was truly a good man with a kind, generous and loving heart. He will be sorely missed by those who love him dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on August 24, 2014 at 3 pm at Mehama Community Church in Mehama, Oregon. Arrangements entrusted to Keizer Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services.
