DALLAS - Robert T. "Bob" Smith died on Wednesday, December 25th. He was born on March 28, 1927 in Portland, Oregon the son of Clarence and Helen Smith. Bob joined the United States Coast Guard his junior year in high school and served in WWII. He was later recalled to duty during the Korean Conflict. Bob married Phyllis Beeson Franks on July 23, 1983 in Dallas, Oregon. Bob lettered monuments and installed headstones around the Willamette Valley for many years. He retired in 1998. Bob and Phyllis enjoyed traveling and camping, Bob also enjoyed woodworking, photography and golf. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Dallas Jennings Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Franks Smith, son, Scott Smith, daughters, Kathleen Keim and Jennifer Sticka, step son Gregg Franks, step daughters, Janie Bellinger and Susan Franks along with 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 4th at 3:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Dallas. Private interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Veterans Association and Trinity Lutheran Church in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center who is caring for the family.
