Edward John 'Ted' Dyke

March 11, 1928 - June 23, 2014

Ted was born in Covina CA. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He later married and found work as an auto mechanic at Skyline Ford. Ted's next job lead to a career as a helicopter mechanic and technician shop supervisor for the Oregon Air National Guard, retiring in 1988. During a hiking trip to Milford Track in New Zealand, he met Colleen Barton. They later wed in Whakatane, New Zealand in 1974 and made their home in Turner, OR. Ted and Colleen continued to travel and visited all 50 states and 34 countries. Ted volunteered at Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville, OR and was instrumental in the restoration of the Spruce Goose. Ted was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Nellie Dyke, his brother Gordon, and first wife Lee. Ted leaves behind his wife, Colleen, daughter Jan (Larry) Blanco of Keizer, son Michael (Helene) Main of Salem, sisters, Phyllis Dulworth of AZ, Dorothy (Wally) Reeve of AZ, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Salem Mennonite Church, 1045 Candlewood Dr. NE, Keizer, OR. 97303.
