Eldon Richard Johnson

February 27, 1925 - March 10, 2014

SILVERTON - Eldon Johnson, 89, passed away at Silverton Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2014.

Eldon was born in Evans Valley to Elmer and Jenny (Anderson) Johnson. He worked for the State of Oregon in the revenue dept. He served in the army during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Eldon was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a golden member of the Sons of Norway since 1971 and was a charter member of the Silverton Elks Lodge. He was an avid bowler, loved to garden and enjoyed bird watching.

Eldon is preceded in death by, his parents, wife, Vera (Haynes), stepson, Dan Haynes, and brother, Pat Johnson.

He is survived by, his sister-in-law, Lou Ann Maass of Silverton, stepdaughters, Sharon Haynes and Kelli Duhamel, niece, Sue Scherf, and step-grandchildren, Cory Haynes, Eric Duhamel and Jamie Duhamel.

Memorial service will take place at 10:30am, Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Silverton with luncheon to follow. Graveside service will be held at 9:30am at Valley View Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel.
