Jeanne Marguerite Watson
November 17, 1922 - August 1, 2013
Silverton - Jeanne Marguerite Mary Watson passed away on August 1, 2013, under hospice care. She had been suffering severe back pain for the past year and then to find she had colon cancer was the last blow. She survived the cancer operation but was in such a weakened condition that she could not recover from the effects. Her family wishes to thank everyone who has been so kind to them in these trying days, friends, the doctors and nurses at Salem Hospital, the staff at Marquis Silver Gardens Nursing Home of Silverton, and the Willamette Valley Hospice.
Jeanne was born in England and immigrated to the United States in 1948. She and her husband, Henry Watson, were foster parents for over 40 years and gave a good start in life to many of the children who were in their care. They lived in Silverton for many years and Mother had always felt that Silverton was her home even though she moved to Salem 12 years ago. Jeanne was able to make several trips back to her beloved England and wished it could have been her final destination but it wasn't to be.
She is survived by, 4 children, Dona (Sheldon) Schnider, Miriam David, Bob (Peggy) Watson, and Roger (Lisa) Watson; 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She had a long life and enriched the lives of all her family. Bless you, Mama, we love you.
Graveside service will take place at 10:30am Sun., Aug. 4, 2013, at Bethany Pioneer Cemetery of Silverton. Reception to follow at the Elks Lodge of Silverton. Arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel.
