Jesse A. Hillyer|
April 22, 1946 - March 1, 2014
Our loving father Jesse of Waldport, OR, passed away peacefully from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of his Lord after a brief but strong fought battle with cancer.
Jesse was born April 22, 1946 to Ed Hillyer and Lois Lowery in Woodburn, OR. He graduated from North Salem High School in 1964. He joined the Marines with his 2 best friends in 1966 and served our country in the Vietnam War. Jesse worked over the span of 40 plus years in the paper mill industry starting as a millwright for Boise Cascade in Salem, and working his way up to the Maintenance Superintendent for Georgia Pacific in Halsey, OR where he retired from in 2010. Our dad was an avid fisherman his entire life and had finally settled on the Alsea River where he enjoyed fishing, and crabbing with his family and friends. Dad was an active leader in the Central Coast CCA chapter where his mission was to be an advocate for Salmon, Steelhead, and other NW fish. He believed in our future generations conservation of all marine resources.
Jesse is survived by his father Ed Hillyer (Salem), step-father and mother Frank and Lois Jurgens (Waldport), and his three children, son Aaron and his wife Michelle Pearson (Vancouver), his daughter Susan and her husband Doug Revis (Keizer), and his daughter Heidi Lakey (Coeur d'Alene, ID). Jesse is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Justin, Drew, Brie, Tyler, Chantz, Garrett, Zach and Zoey. Jesse was also happy to know that he had his first great grandchild coming soon. Jesse is survived by his 3 brothers Dale and Karen Hillyer (Salem), Leo and Reyne Hillyer (Aurora) and Chuck and Keisha Glasscock (Alabama). He is survived by his 2 sisters Corinna and Ronald Davis (Alabama) and Tammy Glasscock (Alabama). Jesse is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many close friends. Lastly he is survived by his very special angel, Joanne Moore of Toledo, OR.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 15th at 1pm, Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St SE Salem, OR 97301. There will be a reception to follow at the Funeral Home.
Any memorial contributions can be made to the CCA Foundation or the American Kidney Cancer Association.
I would like to personally thank the Albany Samaritan Hospice House for the love and compassion that they gave to our family.
