Raymond A. Geck
March 12,1928 - September 29,2013
Raymond Geck died September 29. He was born in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. He grew up in Glen Ullin; Mt. Angel, OR; and Salem, OR.
Ray joined the Marine Corps and fought in China in WWII. He worked as a radio announcer, T.V. service repairman, and electrician.
He married Mary Therese Keagbine on December 26, 1949 in Mt. Angel and they had twelve children. They divorced in 1971. He moved to California and later married Paula Elena Grappe and adopted her three children. He worked at a Naval Air Station in El Centro, California, which was the winter home of the Blue Angels. He was proud to show friends and family where he worked and the Blue Angel planes. He finished his career at Norton Air Force Base in Redlands, California.
He loved being an electrician and handyman. After moving to Desert Hot Springs, he continued to do odd jobs for friends and neighbors until his death.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Frances Geck, brothers Harold and Tom, and son Gary.
Ray is survived by his wife Paula; brothers Ted and Larry; sisters Virginia Ascherl, Eunice Beyer, Maxine Beyer, Vangie Ripp and Betty Young; and his children Terry, Jerry, Dan, Ken, Cindy, David, Anita, Randy, Kevin, Marty, Paul, Sheila, Michele, Michael, and many grand and great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life for Ray on Saturday, October 26th at 1 PM at St. Paul's Church cafeteria, 1410 Pine St., Silverton, OR.
