Dr. Stanley K. (Stan) Davis
SALEM - The Davises are both Washingtonians; Stan was born in Bremerton and Phyl in Seattle. They met at a dancing school class at the University of Washington when Phyllis was matched with Stan because he was the right height. They were married in 1943.
Dr. Davis was born October 18, 1920 and died May 29, 2013. Stan earned his medical degree at the University of Oregon Medical School, with a specialty in Education in Pathology. He spent 12 years in and out of military service while he was in specialized training in medical school, internship and residency. He was director of the pathology department at Salem General Hospital for 20 years and another 20 years at Albany General Hospital.
Phyl was born February 21, 1922 and died on September 20, 2013. Phyl worked as a medical assistant and secretary. She has been a long time volunteer: 20 years with the Red Cross, another 20 years with Marion County Public Health and as a guide coordinator at Bush House.
They reared two sons, Keith who preceded them in death and Terry who lives in Albany.
A gathering of friends and family of the Davises to honor and remember them will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, October 5th at Capital Manor Community Center, 1955 Salem Dallas Highway NW in Salem. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
