William Boulware Obituary
William Daniel Boulware

August 18, 1929 - January 23, 2014

SALEM, OR - William "Bill" Boulware, age 84, departed from his family and friends last Thursday evening to begin his life's final journey.

He was born and raised in Sacramento, California, to Norman and Inas Boulware. He attended Sacramento High School and graduated in 1948.

Bill Boulware joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served our country faithfully four years. He was promoted to the rank of corporal and was a Diesel Engine Mechanic Instructor throughout his enlistment. He also competed as an Expert Rifleman on the Army long-range rifle team.

After completing his military service, he returned to Sacramento where he became a professional Firefighter, a career which spanned nearly three decades. During his career he rose to the position of Engineer and Acting Captain. In the early years as a firefighter, Bill pursued his passion of flying and quickly earned his aviation rating of Commercial pilot where he put his talents and skills to good use for many years flying Search and Rescue missions for the Civil Air Patrol.

And as if that were not enough, Bill coached Pacific Little League for several years teaching youngsters how to play baseball, develop team building skills and good sportsmanship. Bill's personal hobbies included time spent afield hunting, boating, fishing and trailering. Even while in retirement, Bill endeavored to continue serving the community in which he resided by volunteering for the Oregon State Police Department and as a driver for Meals on Wheels. Bill Boulware served his community, family and friends with great compassion and generosity. He was a man of integrity, who stayed the course and to his family remains a true American Hero.

William "Bill" Boulware is survived by his wonderful, loving wife Virginia Boulware of 29 years, his 4 sons Murray, Steve, Jeff and Mark, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be announced and held in Sacramento for family members and friends later this year. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home.
