Jack C. Fahrner Obituary
Jack C. Fahrner, age 81 of Stevens Point passed away Wednesday May 23, 2012 at Maple Ridge Memory Care in Plover.

Funeral services for Jack will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 26, 2012 at The Springs Plover United Methodist Church. Rev. Howard Hintzman will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Bartholomew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. A Stevens Point Elks Club ritual will be held at 6:30 PM Friday followed by a ritual by the Plover American Legion Post #543 at 7:00 at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM Saturday morning at the church until the time of services. The Plover American Legion Post #543 will conduct full military honors after the service. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established for Alzheimer research.

Jack was born April 24, 1931 in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Ernest and Anna (Hendrickson) Fahrner. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Jack married Arlene L. Lila on July 24, 1954 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Jack and Arlene bought the Lila family grocery business in 1957 and ran it until selling the business 25 years later. He was a member of the Plover Volunteer Fire Department and helped found the Golden Sands Businessman's Association, which later became P.A.B.A. After his retirement Jack managed his rental properties.

Jack enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, deer hunting in Northern WI, golfing, playing cards with friends, boating on the Wisconsin River, and spending time with family. Before becoming to ill to travel, Jack and Arlene enjoyed spending winters in Gold Canyon, AZ.

He is survived by his wife Arlene; their three children: John (Mary Kay), Plover; Jerry, Stevens Point; Julie, Switzerland. Five grandchildren: Justin, Jerrod (Lindsey), Jenna, Jana, and Jade Schibli. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol, and two brothers: Myron and Jim.
