Leon C. Combel age 77, of Plover passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 26, 2014, while fishing in Waupaca.
Funeral services for Leon will be held on Saturday August 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Plover - Shuda Funeral Home. Deacon Vern Linzmeier will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the Plover Funeral Home. Burial will be in Antigo. The Loyal Order of Moose of which Leon was a member will hold a ritual for him at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Leon was born is Bisbee, AZ the son of the late Leon Jean and Beth (Hatcher) Combel. He graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, CA and later moved to the state of Washington, he moved to Antigo in the late 70's, and started working at the Lockwood Corporation. He moved to Plover in 1978, and continued his career with Lockwood, Roberts Irrigation, Spudnik, and later at Risty Motor Repair, retiring in 2002. Leon married Sharon Mauk - Dunn on October 6, 1979 in Antigo, the couple settled in Plover. He was an avid fisherman, Packer fan, bowler, hunter, and enjoyed playing pool.
Leon is survived by his wife Sharon, his 3 children: Doreena (Elden) Metzer, Leon J. (Patti) Combel, and Judy Combel. 3 step-children: Jeffery (Karin) Dunn; Steven (Michelle) Dunn, and Patrick (Jennifer) Dunn. 14 grandchildren: Tyler, Alyssa, Evan, Haley, Toria, Ashlyn, Alexa, Zoe, Jenna, Josh, Jeremy, Zack, Michelle, and Jason. One great-grandchild: Avalee, His siblings: James Combel and Betty Rabourn, and 1/2 brother Daniel Murchison.
