Theodore "Ted" Mockler

Theodore "Ted" Mockler age 89, formerly of Custer passed away Wednesday June 13, 2012 at the Portage County Health Care Center.

Per his wishes there will be no visitation. Full military honors with a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Shuda Funeral Service & Crematory are assisting the family.

Ted was born September 14, 1922 in Milwaukee, the son of Walter and Gretchen (Hamm) Mockler. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific with UDT-Team 7, as a frogman. He earned the Bronze Star during the invasion of Saipan. After his honorable discharge in July 1945, Ted also served his country in the Army Reserve from 1949 to 1960 and was at the rank of Master Sergeant. Ted married Marian Larson in July of 1945, they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. The couple moved to Stevens Point in 1957 and to the family farm in Custer in 1969. Ted worked at WI Telephone Company until retirement in 1982. Together the couple enjoyed farming, fishing, square dancing, and winters in Florida. Marian passed away October 24, 2007. Since then Ted has enjoyed going to the casino and visiting with comrades at the Plover VFW. He was a member of the VFW, Rosholt Lions, Am Vets, D.A.V., Telephone Pioneers, NRA, and was a scout master for Troop 293.

He is survived by their two children: Guy (Gail) Mockler and Mona Mockler, both of Stevens Point. Along with his parents and his wife Marian, Ted was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kelly.

A memorial in Ted's name will be established in lieu of flowers for Plover VFW Post 10262: 2970 Hickory Dr. Plover 54467.
