Chester "Boxman" McKay, Sr., was a native of Uriah, AL. He owned and operated McKay Paper Recycling Co. for over 50 years. Chester was an Army Veteran of Korea, stationed at Camp Atterbury, IN. He retired in 2012. He enjoyed football and following his team, the Gulfport Admirals. He also enjoyed meeting his longtime friends at McDonalds. This is where he earned his nicknames "Boxman" and "Mr. McDonald". Chester passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Z. and Lena T. McKay; and daughter, Sue Layne.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Rose Mary McKay; 4 sons: Chester McKay, Jr., David (Lorraine) McKay, Michael McKay, and Paul Houston; 4 daughters: Kathy Decker, Bonnie (Dave) Knose, Celia (Robert) McKay and Pauline (Gabriel) Stiener; 17grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, his wish is to donate wreaths for Biloxi National Cemetery, P.O. Box 2188 Gulfport, MS 39505.
Services will be 9AM Friday, June 20, 2014 at MARSHALL LIFE CENTER, 810 Division St. in Biloxi. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. WWW.MARSHALLFH.COM.
