David Sandy Lewis, 61, of Panama City, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Panama City, Florida.
Mr. Lewis was a native of Biloxi, Mississippi and had been a resident of Panama City since 1991. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by the families he influenced most. He will always be remembered as a dedicated hard worker, an admired craftsman and artist, a kind and compassionate man who truly appreciated the personal satisfaction of helping others.
He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, retiring honorably at the rank of Master Sergeant. A Veteran of the Vietnam conflict and Operation Desert Shield/Storm, he was presented with numerous awards and decorations including the Air Force Commendation Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters.
David Lewis was preceded in death by his father Gerald McCool Lewis Jr. and his mother Betty R. Lewis. David is survived by his son Brandon Lewis of Irving, TX, his daughter Shannon Moreland of Seabrook, TX, his sister Holly Hennig of Biloxi, MS, and his brother Scott Lewis of Tomball, TX and his six grandchildren, Rain, Jade, Dylan, and Ivy Moreland of Seabrook, TX and Maya Rose and Lily Lewis of Irving, TX.
Services and Military Honors will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery.
