Fernale L. "Lee" Burns, age 85, of Biloxi, passed away on November 2, 2012.
Mr. Burns was born in Minnesota to Edward L. Burns and Dora Olson Burns. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and Vietnam War and retired after 22 years. After retirement from the Navy, he worked for Ingall's Shipbuilding for many years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the VFW Post #2434, and the DAV Post in Gulfport. He was an avid model train enthusiast. He was a loving husband, father, and Paw Paw, and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Edward L. Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce S. Burns of Biloxi; children, Paul C. Burns (Linda) of Paducah, KY, Robert A. Burns (Nancy) of Montgomery, AL, Dana Peterson (Terry) of Vancleave, Kathy Burns of Biloxi, Joe Hannuksela of Wyoming, RI, Pam Mansfield of Savannah, TN, Jimmy Burns of Savannah, TN, and Debbie Blackwell of Portland, OR; brother, Art Burns and sister, Joanne Schmider, both of Park Rapids, MN; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, from 12 o'clock Noon until 2:15 p.m. A procession will leave at 2:15 p.m. for graveside services at the National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., where the United States Navy will render full military honors.
