James B. Richmond, Sr.

1925 ~ 2014

Biloxi, MS

James B. Richmond, Sr., age 88, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

He was a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs and Biloxi.

He graduated from Biloxi High School and in 1943, was inducted into the Army. James had a distinguished military career in World War II. His decorations included the "Soldiers Medal" for heroism, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Victory Medal, Parachute Wings with three bronze stars, and Campaign Service Medals. He was attached to the 334th Air Borne Resupply Company and participated in numerous missions in the European Theater of World War II. At the age of 20, he was discharged at the rank of S/Sgt.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the , 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507, in memory of Mr. Richmond's son, Wayne Richmond.The family would also like to express great appreciation to all the personnel who cared for him during his illness.

Mr. Richmond was pre-deceased by his parents, Homer and Anna Radavich Richmond; his son, Wayne Richmond; and brother, Homer Richmond.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Davis Richmond; sons , James Richmond, Jr. and Jon (Lynn) Richmond; daughter, Rhonda (David) Parker; daughter-in-law, Donna Richmond; step-sons, Gerald and Terrell Davis; and grandchildren, Briley, Dylan, Sean, Lindsey, Randall (Katie), and Jeremy (Kelly); step grandchildren, Jessica and Brittany Davis; great-grandchildren, Brey, Caden James, Lucy, Finn, and Lilly; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00 a.m. graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
