Ocean Springs, MS
Jeffery Scott Doggett, 49 years young, entered into God's rest on September 6, 2013. He leaves behind his most precious possessions, a multitude of children, nieces, and nephews who Lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Jeff, Apple Jeff, and Coach Jeff." He will be deeply missed by his father and stepmother, Richard Donald and Patricia Doggett, his siblings and their spouses Charles "Charlie" Doggett, David Arliss Doggett, Wanda (ne: Ronnie) Fishburn, Donald "Donnie" Gene (ne: Lisa) Doggett, and Benjamin Stacey (ne: Mary) Doggett. He will be missed and was cherished by his "California family," the family of Christina Atwater.
Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved fiancée, Alicia Dotson, his mother, Betty Jean Walters Doggett, and grandparents, Earline Holifield Walters, Benjamin and Clara Doggett.
He is a former graduate of Pascagoula High School and the University of California at Los Angeles where he achieved degrees in Foreign Language and International Business. While living in Los Angeles for over 20 years, he was manager of the 22nd Street Landing Restaurant. Jeff moved back to the coast and worked as a teacher in the Pascagoula School District, as a long term substitute in the Ocean Springs and D'Iberville High Schools.
Coaching gymnastics was a long time dream that he was able to fulfill in working as the Recreational Director and Coach for Dreamworks Gymnastics Academy in Ocean Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to an account set up at First Federal Bank in the name of Stacey Doggett for the benefit of Brandon Campo. The funds will be used to help the family of Jeff's godson, whose young life was also taken in this tragedy. "Uncle Jeff, dance on God's golden streets until we are there to dance with you."
Visitation for Jeffery Doggett will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Officiating the service will be Cecil Locke and Dobbs Dennis.
