Leonel "Neil" Mattos

Leonel " Neil" Mattos, 63, of Vancleave and formerly of Pascagoula MS, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2014 in Norfolk, VA. Neil was born January 14, 1950 in Pascagoula, MS and has been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Our Lady of Victories High School in 1967 and served in the Marine Corp Reserves. Neil was currently employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula as a Project Coordinator and had been employed for 44 years. He enjoyed gardening, target practicing with his guns, and was "The Master Griller"
He is preceded in death by his father, Jayme Mattos; mother, Barbara Lunette Mattos; brother, Joseph Cooper Mattos; son, Robert Bradley Colson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Juaniece Hester Mattos, Vancleave; son, Kenny Mattos, Seattle, WA; daughter, Jamie Anne Colson, Mobile; granddaughter, Anna Grace Colson, Mobile; father-in-law, Kenny Hester, Vancleave; sister-in-law, Sandra Whitney (Mike), Baton Rouge, LA; four sisters and one brother, Theresa Titus (Tony), El Paso, TX; Carol Sagars (Jack), Pascagoula; Mona Lisa Mattos, Pascagoula; Kathy Carr (Mike), Gautier; Tony Mattos (Anna), Vancleave; Special friend as close as a brother, Billy Dungan; numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and co-workers.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2014 at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula from 6:00-9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 am in the chapel with Father Tony Arguelles officiating. Interment will conclude at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, MS.
