Ronald Stewart Gambrell

Ron Stewart Gambrell, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Biloxi, MS on December 18, 2013.
Born in Laurel, MS, Ron was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and served honorably in the United States Air Force. He flew Hercules C-130's performing weather recon and other tactical flight missions in Vietnam. He came home to fly the same aircraft as a hurricane hunter in the 53 WRS/815 WRS. Ron retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lt. Colonel and then pursued his lifelong dream and became an airline Captain for Southwest Airlines until his retirement in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents Astor Gambrell and Gladys Adelle Flynt Gambrell of Summerland.
His survivors include his partner and fiancee Pamela Taliaferro; two daughters Tracy Gambrell Yelverton (Jimmy) of Gulfport, and Kerry Gambrell Ladnier of Ocean Springs; stepson Ben Taliaferro (Teresa); son in law William Ladnier; five granddaughters , Gracyn Yelverton, Juliana Ladnier, Addison Yelverton, Aubrey Ladnier, Emerson Yelverton; grandson Tristan Taliaferro; grandson Blake Yelverton and two brothers Sidney Gambrell (Joy) of Prosperity, SC, and Daryl Gambrell (Anita) of Stringer, MS: and a host of dear nephews, nieces and many friends.
Friends and family are invited to his funeral services at Summerland Baptist Church, on Hwy 28 between Soso and Taylorsville on Saturday December 21, at 12 PM. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 AM until time of service. Interment with military honors will be immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Stewart Gambrell, Curtis Gambrell, Jason Gambrell, Daryl Gambrell Jr, Jay Gambrell, Sherrill Shows, Will Ladnier and Jim Yelverton.
