William Guy Krebs, Jr.

William Guy Krebs, Jr, age 93 of Pascagoula passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014. He was born June 7, 1920 to W. Guy Krebs, Sr. and Sophie Lucille Macek Krebs in Pascagoula and has been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Our Lady of Victories Catholic School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army during WW II and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest. He became a Prisoner of War from December to Easter Weekend. He was awarded the Purple Heart and other additional medals for his military service. After discharge from the Army he went into the contracting business and was the inspector and appraiser for the Veterans Administration of the MS Gulf Coast. He ended his professional career as a licensed Real Estate Appraiser. Mr. Krebs was a commander of the MS Department of P.O.W. and past commander of Singing River Power Squadron. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, American Legion, and Optimist Club He was a devoted family man, enjoyed boating, trips to the islands, trips with the power squadron in the summer, family gatherings. He could spend hours describing Pascagoula in his younger years and telling stories about how he grew up. He will be remembered as a solid member of this community.
He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Margaret LaBoone Krebs; daughter, Mary Catherine Pike; siblings, Verna Walker, Vincent Krebs, Alfred "Ebb" Krebs, Rosemary Bradley, Leon David "L.D." Krebs. He is survived by his loving wife, Mimi Marie Krebs; four sons and one daughter, W. Guy Krebs, III ( Linda), Charles Barney Krebs (Debi), James Hannon Krebs (Jeanette), Eugene David Krebs (Becky), Elizabeth Jane Foret (George); four step-children, Kathy Shaughnessy (Denny), Mitchell Hughes, Shannon Grochowski (Wlady), and Rusty Hughes; brother, Hebert Krebs and sister, Carol Cowan; 30 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two great- great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, 6:00-8:00pm, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with Rosary to be recited at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, 11:00am, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Interment will follow with military honors at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
