Lt. Col. Alan W. Morton, 87, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born December 10, 1925 in Morristown, New Jersey and was a long time resident of Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Morton served in the United States military for 38 years. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Army as an Engineer Officer. He was a very proud graduate of the University of Florida, Gainesville. Throughout his life, he dedicated his time to volunteering in many organizations in his community. He is survived by his two sons, Bruce Morton of Ormond Beach, FL and Stuart Morton of Ft. Lauderdale; two daughters, Rosalie Morton and Daphne Christian both of Ft. Lauderdale; brother, Gary Morton of Pompano Beach, FL and four grandchildren, Rosalie Flowers, Alexander Christian, Andrew Morton and Robert Christian. Mr. Morton was predeceased by his wife, Margaret "Glenn" Morton and sister, Shirley Higgins. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, August 14 at 3:00PM.
