Betty J. Carr, 83, of Lighthouse Point, passed away at Broward Health North on July 9 after a short illness. Born June 25, 1930 in Youngstown, OH, she was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Kosko, and brother, John Richard Kosko. She is survived by her son Vincent J. Carr and his wife Patricia, of Lighthouse Point and Kailua-Kona, HI. An accomplished businesswoman, Betty began her career as a sales agent for Beeline Fashions, a multi-level marketing firm promoting women's fashions at home parties in the 1960s. She was promoted to vice-president of sales, and eventually retired to Florida while still in her early forties. Retirement was not her way of life. Betty became a real estate agent for Berry Realty and Kimmerle Real Estate, selling properties throughout Broward County for the next 40 years. During that time, she also managed her own apartment complex in Lighthouse Point. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the Elks Club of Pompano Beach, America Legion Auxiliary #162, and the Notre Dame Club of Fort Lauderdale. Betty was a generous and caring person, making sure her friends and family were well fed and cared for in the very best way. Betty was one of the University of Notre Dame's Fighting Irish biggest fans, and her "sons" will toast her always with a hearty: "Go Irish!" A memorial Mass will be said in her honor on Saturday, July 20 at 12 noon at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2700 NE 36th Street, Lighthouse Point. A Celebration of Life reception will be held in the parish hall immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either The Florida Humane Society, www.floridahumanesociety.org, or The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, www.parseghian.org.
