CARL "AUGGIE" PETERSEN, JR. 1929 - 2013 Surrounded by family and friends, Auggie passed away peacefully in his home at Beech Mountain on September 20th. Auggie was born in Evanston, IL, in 1929, and graduated from New Trier High School and the University of Illinois with a degree in architecture. He served 2 years on the U.S.S. Los Angeles during the Korean War. He opened his first office in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL. As his practice grew, he built an office and adjoining residence on N.E. 14th Street Causeway in Pompano Beach, FL, where he worked and lived for over 40 years. His designs can be seen on the east and west coasts of Florida. Auggie and his wife Sally retired to Beach Mountain, NC. He loved his profession and worked from his home until age 82. In addition to his wife Sally, Auggie is survived by many nieces and nephews who boast of the positive impact that he had on their lives. He will be remembered for his wonderful dry sense of humor, and the good times that he inspired in both close friends and casual acquaintances. Arrangements are being provided by the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland, NC. Condolences may be entered on-line at www.rsfh.net.
