Carol Messer, 89, passed peacefully into eternal life on June 23, 2013 due to natural causes. Born on October 25, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, Carol attended New York University and became a buyer for a regional clothing store chain. She was a career woman for a few years until she met, fell instantly in love with and married Ed Messer. They moved to New Haven and had a wonderful marriage for 64 years until Ed's passing in 2010. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend, Carol was involved in civic, social, and charitable organizations in Connecticut and Florida. (Yes, they were snowbirds.) Those who knew Carol know that the party never stopped. She loved people, tennis, dancing, theater, entertaining, and finishing the leftovers. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and love of life will be missed very much. Toward the end of her life, Carol lived with her daughter, Jane, a registered nurse, in Woodbridge, just around the corner from where she and Ed raised their family. Carol is survived by her daughters Jane Messer and Karen Messer, son-in-law Bill Watters, and five grandchildren: Robert, Suzanne and Marisa Messer; and Michael and David Watters. Carol's family extends their sincere gratitude to all who helped made Carol and Ed's life so wonderful. Funeral services will be held at Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. The interment will be in the United Israel Society Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven. A private period of mourning will be observed. To Sign a memorial book please visit: www.wellerfuneralhome.com.
