Dr. Charles L. Glicksberg passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2013 at the age of 78. A retired veterinarian, proud Rotarian and enthusiastic traveler renowned for his witty one-liners, "Charlie" was a 42-year resident of Coral Springs, Fla. and past president of the Broward County Veterinary Association and Coral Springs Rotary Club. He grew up on Miami Beach, attending Miami Beach High School before graduating from the University of Florida, where he misspent much of his time cavorting with his Pi Lambda Phi fraternity brothers, among them Max Hagen of Weston, Fla. He then went on to earn his veterinary degree from Auburn University and serve as a Captain in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps at Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland before establishing Margate Animal Clinic in Margate, Fla. Dr. Glicksberg is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy Glicksberg; children Joseph Glicksberg and Mahsa Parangi, of Millburn, N.J. and Rebecca and Paul Skipper of Cabin John, Md.; grandchildren Ava and Alex Glicksberg and Hannah and James Skipper; brother and sister-in-law Mendy and Joyce Glicksberg of Gainesville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Glicksberg's honor may be made to the Humane Society of Broward County, 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 33312; www.humanebroward.com.
