Clifford G. Bailey

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

On the morning of February 28th, after a brief illness, the Lord called our beloved stepfather, Clifford Gordon Bailey home. Clifford was born in London, England on February 15, 1920, the son of Albert and Muriel Bailey. He was a graduate of Electrical Engineering from the University of London. During World War II he served as a bomber pilot in the British Royal Air Force. After the war, he put his considerable talents as an Electrical Engineer, and business skills, to work by starting up and running a number of electronic manufacturing companies in Great Britain. His business acumen was such, that he was asked to lecture at Oxford University. In his younger years, besides flying, he enjoyed playing rugby and driving race cars in various rallies across the country. His love for driving extended well into his older days. Cliff was predeceased by his first wife and their daughter, Elizabeth, his older brother, Neville, his step-grandson John Christopher Schot, and his late wife, Rickey (Hendrika). With Rickey, he enjoyed 24 of the last 26 years of his full life. They had homes in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida and Farnham, England. From their summer home in Farnham, they traveled extensively, much of it with Cliff driving, throughout Europe visiting family and friends. In Fort Lauderdale and Lauderdale By the Sea, besides traveling, they enjoyed many cultural and social actives. Cliff and Rickey were members of the Freedom Foundation, the Opera Society, the Symphony, the Gold Coast Jazz Society, The English Speaking Union, and the Coral Ridge Yacht Club. Cliff is survived by his three step-children, Dr. Erik H. (Joan) Schot and James H. Schot of Lauderdale By the Sea, FL, Yvonne R. (Kenneth) Hannan of New York, NY, and three step-grandchildren, Ashley Hannan of New York, NY, Dr. K. Schot Hannan of Lexington, KY, Kevin (Raquel) Schot and their daughter Maryane of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Clifford will be remembered as a gentle gentleman with an extraordinary sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel, 4061 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 - www.kraeerfairchild.com
