Jack Dale Dowdall, CPA. Born December 23, 1921 in Jerseyville Illinois. Passed away peacefully in his sleep at home April 26, 2014. Raised by his grandparents in Rockbridge Illinois, a farming community of 150, he was the first in his family to receive a college degree, graduating from the University of Illinois. As an ROTC student he joined the Army immediately upon graduation serving in the pacific theater and was on MacArthur's staff during the occupation of Japan. After several years in business he moved to Pompano Beach in 1963 where he owned and operated a tax practice until his retirement in 1998. An active member of the community he held offices in both the Navy League and Elks. He was an avid golfer and played his final round this January. He and his wife were intrepid travelers, making stops in all the continents save Antarctica. In addition to traveling the Al-Can highway to Alaska they drove and camped all the way to South America before you could make the entire trip on paved roads. He is survived by his spouse of 47 years Bethany Dowdall, his son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Donna Dowdall, two grand children and two great grand children. Beyond being a beloved family member he was a man of great character and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial service is scheduled for June 29th at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.
