Joanne "Jo" Hoey Bonura, 84, of Dowling Park, FL, peacefully passed away on November 23rd, 2013. She was born in Dexter, Michigan and after graduating from the University of Michigan, became a long-time resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. There, she met her husband, Joseph B. Bonura, DDS, with whom she shared 55 glorious years. Joanne was very active in volunteering in her community, such as Children's Aid Club, Bonnet House tour docent, and Stranahan House, as well as being chairman of the Honda Classic scoreboard for 25 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joseph; her loving children Jamie Bonura Sessums, John Hoey Bonura and Jody Lou Bonura; her son- and daughter-in-law Robert Sessums and Maria Bonura; and her five grandchildren Jordan and Robby Sessums, and Anna Maria, Joseph Antony and Celia Mae Bonura. Joanne was a lifelong practicing Catholic. A memorial mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Humane Society of Broward County.
