Mark Maurer passed away peacefully at his home in Etowah, NC at the age of 93 on June 27, 2013. He was born on March 22, 1920 in Fostoria, OH. The Maurer family moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1925. He attended Ft. Lauderdale High School and the University of Florida. Mark was a proud Gator and Kappa Sigma brother. He married Nancy Louise from Gainesville, FL in 1947 before returning to Ft. Lauderdale to join his father's law practice until his retirement in 1990. Mark was a naval officer in WWII and later served in the reserves for 25 years. He was a long standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale. He is predeceased by his parents William F. Maurer, Grace Simpson Maurer, wife Nancy, brothers William and David and sister-in-laws Yolanda Maurer and Liza Kephart. He is survived by his three daughters: Lane Maurer, Liza (John) Siegle and Lesley (John) Graham. Grandchildren: Brooke [Tom) Hughes, Christopher Graham and Andrew Graham. Sister-in-law Katherine Maurer, nieces and nephews, Larry (Suzie) Maurer, Tom Maurer, Mary (Peter) Osterberg, Dalton (Euchee) Matthews, Peter Kephart, Jon Harris Maurer and Jennifer (Ben) Beam. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Etowah Presbyterian Church.
