Robert Toy Carlile was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Robert Carlile and Eva (MacQueen) Carlile on July 27, 1926. He and his wife Gill (Sawyer) moved to Palm City in 1994 from Deerfield Beach, FL. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, discharged as a Sergeant, and in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953, discharged as a Captain. Robert graduated from the University of Miami with a B.P.A. degree in 1949. He graduated from the University of Florida with a J.D. degree with 1958. He was executive editor of the University of Florida Law Review. Robert was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1958. In addition to his private practice, he served as City Attorney for Deerfield Beach from 1963 to 1968 and 1988 to 1991. He also served as City Judge in Deerfield Beach form 1971 to 1977. He held a number of positions, including Vice-president, Broward County Municipal Judges Association (1976), City of Deerfield Beach Housing Authority Attorney (1980-1981), City of Deerfield Beach Industrial Bond Screening Commission (1985-1987), and President, North Broward Bar Association (1966). Robert was a Mason, a Shriner (Mahi), and a member of Court 179, Royal Order of Jesters. In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memory his son, Robert Allen (wife Peggy) of Hood River, OR, and his son Regan James (wife Elizabeth) of Huntsville, AL. A Masonic Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am, with the Service at 11am.
