Simon Abend, 98 of Lauderhill, FL, passed away last Saturday, February 15th, 2014. He is survived by his sweet, beautiful wife Dora Abend; beloved sons Jack and Stanley Borenstein and granddaughters Ashley and Rebecca Borenstein. Simon was an avid home-farmer, planting 3 varieties of oranges, mango's, grapefruit, the most luscious blood red tomatoes and fresh dill. He often donated his harvest to his neighbors, who all loved him. His fruit burst with juice and flavor just like his delicious personality, effervescent charm and good humor. A holocaust survivor who deeply loved this country, appreciated the opportunities offered to him and never failed to tell all about it.
