Warren "Gunny Mac" McMillan passed away on March 25, 2013. He was born on November 23, 1957 in Pontiac, Illinois and relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL with his family at the age of four. Warren joined the United States Marine Corp. at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for 21 years. His duties included Aircraft Airframe F/A-18 and F- 4 Mechanic, and F/A-18 Hydraulic & Structures Instructor. Warren's travels with the USMC took him to Japan, Norway, Australia and many other locates; his favorite location being Australia. He received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 4 stars; Good Conduct Medal - 5th award; National Defense Service Medal; Certificate of Appreciation; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy Unit Commendation; and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge during his service. His last rank before retiring was Gunnery Sergeant - earning him the nickname of "Gunny Mac" among his peers. After retiring from the USMC, Warren settled back in Ft. Lauderdale where he enjoyed retirement and worked for Home Depot for 10 years. He enjoyed woodworking and computers and could often be found working on a home or carpentry project in his spare time. Warren faced many health issues in the past years. However, no matter how serious or challenging, he faced them all with a strength, grace and acceptance that was inspiring and comforting to his family and friends. Warren is survived by his daughter, Stephaine McMillan Eads, her husband Michael and granddaughter Lily of Raleigh, NC; his ex-wife of 15 years Robina Farris of Taunton, MA; his father M.D. McMillan of Tavernier, FL; his sisters, Sandra Brittain, Marsha Oliff, Linda Miller and brother John McMillan. There are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins located throughout the United States. A private "Celebration of Life" will be held for family and friends on Sunday, April 7th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vitas Hospice in Ft. Lauderdale in Warren's honor.
