ADAM YURIGAN JR. (April 17th 1918 - May 1st 2013) Adam Yurigan Jr., 95 of Windermere, Florida, Adam was born on April 17th 1918 to Adam Yurigan Sr. and Mildred (Baker) Yurigan in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. He graduated High school and attended the University of Pittsburg. On June 5th 1943 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth L. (Betty Lou) Barnes of Garner, Iowa. He served in the US Army in World War 11 and was discharged in 1945. Adam was in the golf industry for 70 years. In 1947 he was Golf professional and golf course superintendent at Muscatine, Ia, then in 1948 at the All Veterans golf course in Clear Lake, Ia. In 1949 he went into the Auto business with his Father in law in Garner. In 1962 he returned to golf as a professional and superintendent at the Mason City CC, then at Echo Valley in Des Moines, Ia. In Florida He was golf course superintendent at Rio Pinar, Orlando, Johns Island, Hawks Nest and consultant at Vero Beach CC. in Vero Beach, Fl. Adam had 12 Holes in one in his life time. His real love was caring for the golf course, and helping young people get their start as a golf course superintendent. He was a member of the Rotary Club. The PGA of America, National Golf Superintendents Association, 1st President of the Central Florida Superintendents Association. 1st President of the Florida Treasure Coast Superintendents Association. Adam is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Windermere, Fl. 4 children, Nancy (Gus) Skarlis, Mason City, Ia. and Vero Beach, Fl., Patricia Llamas, Daytona Beach, Fl., Lorena (Bob) Amon, Windermere, Fl., Michael (Kay) Yurigan, Vero Beach, Fl. Grand- children, Toby (Kim) Llamas, Gus Jr. (Pina) Skarlis and James (Jamey) Skarlis, Jacob, Adam and Benjamin Yurigan. Great grand children Josh and Noelle Llamas, and Giada, Carter and Gavin Skarlis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adam Sr. and Mildred, brother Paul, sister in law Carmella, and sister Mildred Yurigan and niece Patty (Yurigan) Sloan. In keeping with Adam's wishes, cremation will take place with no visitation or service being held. Memorials may be given to Hospice.
