JOSEPH JOHN DONDERO Joseph John Dondero, 90, of Palm City, Florida, passed away
peacefully at his home, on July 8, 2014. Joseph was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Joseph J. and Marie Dondero (nee Podesta). He remained in Jersey City until moving to Florida 35 years ago. Joe received his Master's Degree from NYU, working as a police officer. Prior to his retirement, Joseph earned the rank of Sergeant and then Safety Director while working for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Coast Guard. Joseph was of the Catholic faith, voted Co-Ed's Delight senior year at Dickenson High School, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joseph was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Mary F. Johner Dondero, and two sons, Michael and Joseph Dondero. Survivors include his children Julia Sasson of Florida, Mary Keister of Pennsylvania, Thomas Dondero of New Jersey, Barbara Crowley of Florida, and Annie Dondero of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of Joe's life will be from 10 AM to 12 noon, with a reception to follow from 12 noon to 2 PM, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club, located at 12600 Harbour Ridge Blvd, Palm City, Florida 34990.
