RODGERS Kenneth C. Rodgers, age 78, of Jensen Beach, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014, in his home in the company of his family. He was born on July 18, 1935 in Sedgewick, AR. Ken retired from the U.S. Navy in 1973 after 20 years of service. His career included tours in aviation squadrons and on aircraft carriers. He participated in the World Cruise aboard the USS Enterprise, Cuban Missile Crisis and tours in Vietnam. Upon retirement from the Navy, he taught electronics for vocational program at Martin Co. High School. He was also head of the chess club. At the Port St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant he was a quality assurance inspector. He ended his career in construction in Martin Co. Ken was very active in his community and politics and headed many local events. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his wife Bessie Rodgers, daughter Terry Rodgers and granddaughter Chantel Rodgers of Jensen Beach and his son Jerry Rodgers of Romney, WV. Aycock Funeral Home took care of the arrangements.
