Melinda Twichell died July 23, 2013. She was born in Oakland, Calif., and moved to Stuart from St. Louis 14 years ago. She graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., with a degree in economics and subsequently served on Wilson College's board of directors. She completed the Master Gardener Program and became a University of Florida Master Gardener. She then served as president of the Martin County Master Gardeners and was a member of the Stuart Garden Club, where she became co-chairman of the 2008 Garden Club tour. She served as alderman for the Town of Clarkson Valley for 10 years and president of Forest Hills Estates Home Owners Association. She served on the board of directors of the Stuart Yacht and Country Club and also was president of the Ladies 9 Hole Golf Association. She was manager of professional development of a consortium of 45 public school districts in St. Louis. She joined the administrative team of college counseling and admissions at Whitfield School, a private St. Louis school. She was a member of the Stuart Congregational Church, Stuart. Survivors include her husband, Fred; daughter, Stephanie; and sister, Deborah Menke. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Health Foundation Cancer Center, P.O. Box 9010 Stuart, FL 34995. Services: A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. July 27 at Stuart Congregational Church, Stuart. A reception will follow at the Yacht & Country Club.
