RICHARD SANDSTROM Richard "Dick" Sandstrom, age
80 of Stuart, FL passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Treasure Coast Hospice. Dick was born on November 1, 1932 in Hong Kong. The older son of the late Earl and Florence Sandstrom, he spent his early life in the Far East where Earl served as a bank officer for First National City Bank of New York. After attending Bellefontaine High School (OH), Staunton Military Academy (VA), Wesleyan (CT), and Ohio State, Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956-1992 performing his active and reserve duties as a patrol bomber pilot. In civilian life in Connecticut he was an electroplating engineer at Sargent Lock, Schick, Waterbury Buckle, and Hubbard Hall. Surviving are his brother Earl Sandstrom of Madison, CT, and his sons Richard Sandstrom of Charlmont, MA and Harold Sandstrom of Belmont, MA, as well as two granddaughters, Raisa and Sonya Sandstrom of Northampton and Belmont, MA respectively. Donations in memory of Dick may be sent to Treasure Coast Hospice (www.tchospice.org), Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org), or the Haiti Mission of Stuart Congregational Church. Memorial service arrangements at the congregational churches of Stuart, FL and Madison, CT will be announced soon.
