ROBERT E. (BOB) O'DONNELL Robert E. (Bob) O'Donnell, 88 of Port St Lucie, Fl, died on April 10, 2013 after a long illness. Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Mary (Hayes) and resided in Ohio where he owned and operated the Bob O'Donnell Distributing Company. Bob attended Notre Dame and John Carroll University. He served three years in the U.S. Navy. He loved horses and established Hobby Horse Farms in Grafton, Ohio, where he bred, raised and trained prominent Standardbreds. He was inducted into the Ohio Harness Racing Hall of Fame and was a past president of the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association. He served as a United States Trotting Association Director for many years. He also served on the board of the Little Brown Jug, the Harness Horsemen International, the American Horse Council, and the Ohio Standardbred Breeder's Association. Bob had a robust sense of humor and loved singing Irish songs to anyone who would listen. He mentored and inspired many people in his lifetime, received numerous accolades and awards but cherished his role as husband and father above all others. He was a man who loved life. He was admired for his positive attitude and work ethic, not to mention his colorful wardrobe. Bob is survived by his bride of 62 years, Betty, his six children, Marianne (Bob Ivany), Tricia (Vince Jiovanazzo), Mike (Rhonda), Kelly (Jeannine), Tim (Pam), and Rob. He has seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie on Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 am, 350 NW California Blvd. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass.
