Robert Alexander Guterma, 61, died July 5, 2013. He was born in Greenwich, Conn., and lived in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Boca Raton. He was a real estate broker for 20 years before moving to Vero Beach, where he was a builder of custom homes in the John's Island community. He was a member of Spanish River Presbyterian Church in Boca Raton and later, of Bethesda-by-the Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, the Boca Raton Hotel & Club, John's Island Club for 20 years, and the John's Island Architectural Review Board. He also was the founder and president of Architectural Homes Inc. He completed more than 100 triathlons and four marathons before age 50. He attended Boca Raton High School and the University of Florida. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Emily Corcoran Guterma of Vero Beach; son, Robert Alexander Jr. of Shanghai, China; and daughters, Anita Elizabeth "Lizzy" Guterma of Charlotte, N.C., and Marianne Guterma of Tampa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Leonard Guterma and Anita Louise McGrath; sisters, Carole Jean and Karen Anita Guterma; and adopted brothers, Brock, Brandon and Marc Guterma.
