Robert Austin Terry Jr., 83, died March 2, 2013, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce. He was a lifetime resident of Fort Pierce. He was a veteran serving in the Army in Japan and Korea. He served on the Fort Pierce Planning Board, was a former member of the St. Lucie Village School Board, and was the director of the A.E. Backus Gallery in Fort Pierce, for 40 years. He graduated from the Yellow Brick School in 1947 and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1951 with a degree in architecture. He then earned a degree in business education from the University of Florida in 1954. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alyce Terry Guettler. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.E. Backus Gallery, 500 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Edward Paul Guettler; and nieces, Terry G. Seen, Donna G. Taylor and Blair G. Moore, all of Rock Hill, S.C. Services: A funeral Eucharist will be celebrated at 2 p.m. March 9 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Fort Pierce, with the Rev. John Liebler, rector, officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment was at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce. Arrangements are by Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Fort Pierce Chapel.
