SHIRLEY IRENE CRAINE On 29 March, 2014, Shirley Irene Craine died, family and friends by her side, in her Vero Beach
home. Born in Red Creek, N.Y. 27 January, 1928, Shirley was one of twins born to Philip and Doris Craine. During an event filled life, Shirley passionately pursued her interests: enlisted in the United States Air Force, April of 1952; served with distinction as a Flight Traffic Specialist on assignment throughout the world; and although she never saw combat, Shirley was one of a select group of women trained as paratroopers. Upon honorable discharge, Shirley began a long entrepreneurial career establishing/operating several successful businesses. She was an enthusiastic supporter of many civic organizations, was a devoted and active member of The American Legion, and was especially honored when she was appointed first woman commander of an American Legion Post. Shirley, survived by her sister Sylvia Drum, by many nieces and nephews, was especially thankful to her devoted lifelong friend Gail Colf for the caring and the support she provided. Visitation will be held Friday, 11 April at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Rite of Christian Burial, Military Honors, and interment at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, FL. www.dignitymemorial.com/fountainheadfuneralh ome In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Shirley I.
