Wayne L. Nelson, 78, died April 30, 2012, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce. He was born in Milwaukee, and moved to Okeechobee more than 20 years ago, coming from Haverhill. He worked in the air conditioning business. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany in the 1950s. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in West Palm Beach. He received his associate degree from Palm Beach Junior College and attended the University of Florida. He was a member of Fishermen Against Destruction of Environment Inc., Public Citizens and Green Peace. Survivors include his son, Thomas Robert Davis; and sister, Karen Brown of Hobe Sound.
