William E. Klein, 81, died Nov. 14, 2012. He was born in Miami and lived in Coral Gables and Port St. Lucie, until moving to Lantana in June of this year. He served in the Army in Europe and later transferred to the Navy, serving in the Ready Reserve and retired as lieutenant commander, Supply Corps. Before retirement, he worked for the city of Coral Gables and retired as finance director. He was president of the Florida Municipal Finance Officers Association and the Florida American Society for Public Administration and state chairman of the Municipal Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada. He later served as chief financial officer for the Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission. He was a member of the Eagle Scouts, Knights of Columbus, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the SunDancers Radio Control Flying Club. He graduated from St. Theresa High School in Coral Gables and the University of Florida, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Survivors include his daughters, Kathie Auld, Cindy Horowitz and Laurie Ulseth; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, in January 2008. Services: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in West Palm Beach, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, with interment and military honors to follow at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
