Carl R. Easterday
Carl R. Easterday, 80, of Lehighton, passed away on his birthday, Thursday, January 23, in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.
He was the husband of Ethel (Hamersly) Eas-terday for 34 years.
Born in Emerald, he was a son of the late Claude and Rosie (Roberts) Paules.He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Air Force from 1953-66 and the Air Force Reserves from 1966-90.
Following his service, he worked in the maintenance department of the American Nickeloid Company, Walnutport, for 27 years before retiring in 1998.
He was of Lutheran faith.
Carl loved gardening, cooking, going to yard sales and making wine for friends and family.
Surviving in addition to his widow are four sons, Randy, and his wife, Nancy, of Northampton, Scott, and his wife, Lucy, of Lehighton, Chris, and his wife, Wendy, in Florida, and Ryan, and his wife, Rebecca, of Tamaqua; a daughter Joann, wife of Terry Frey of Lehighton; a stepson, Robert Hamersly in Florida; a brother, Timothy Paules, and his wife, Carolyn, of Slatington; a sister, Bonnie Abraham of Bowmanstown; three grandchildren, David, Josh and Cassidy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son Jeff; and two brothers, Forest and Leonard
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, Schaeffer Funeral Home, Third and Alum streets, Lehighton, with the Rev. Anthony Pagotto officiating. Military graveside service, Lehighton Cemetery, under direction of Lehighton UVO. Call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday.
