Ann Elizabeth Hall Ashmore
On August 29, 2013, Ann Elizabeth Hall Ashmore, 77, passed peacefully into the arms of her heavenly Father.Ann had been ill for many years with metastatic breast cancer, and the Lord felt it was time for her to come "home".She was married for 47 years to her high school sweetheart, Byrne Ashmore, who passed away in 2002, after many treasured years together.
Ann graduated in 1953 with honors from Leon High School, going on to attend Florida State University prior to her marriage in 1955. She was a charter member of Saint Paul's Methodist Church, and retired from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after a wonderful, satisfying career with this agency.She volunteered in the TMH Auxiliary and, over the years, enjoyed getting together with her high school friends each month for lunch. Ann was an Air-Force wife, and this took her to many locations in the United States, Japan, and Scotland. Ann and Byrne retired in 1971 to their home in Smith Creek, on the banks of the Ochlocknee River, knowing it was time to relax and enjoy settling down.
In addition to her husband Byrne, Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Kent and Francis Hall of Tallahassee, FL. She is survived by a son, Stephen "Steve" Ashmore (Joy Ree), Altha; a daughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Ashmore, Tallahassee; a sister Mary Helen Hall Ringe (Edward), Monticello; three granddaughters, Jennifer Ann Underwood, Crawfordville, Chelsea Elizabeth Ashmore-Barac and Ali Foster, Atlanta, Ga; two great grandsons, Logan Bass and Robbie Underwood; her namesake Ann Elizabeth "Beth" Larkin (Rob), Tallahassee, and many other close friends and relatives.
Ann loved life and always had a bright smile for everyone.She had beautiful blue eyes, and a strong trust that God would always watch over her. She had a passion for reading which helped her through her years of cancer confinement, and she loved piddling in her garden. Ann will be truly missed by her loving family and dedicated friends.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Saint Paul's Methodist Church, 1700 Tharpe St, Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church sanctuary.The family is truly grateful to Big Bend Hospice for their love and support of Ann during her illness, and encourages your support of this noteworthy organization.
