Charles William Atkins, Jr.
Charles William Atkins, Jr., age 71, of Havana, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014. A son of the now late Charles W. Atkins, Sr. and Ruth Hazlit Atkins, he was born March 2, 1943 in Monticello, New York.

He honorably served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Cadet Engineer.
Following his military service, he worked with the City of Tallahassee Public Utilities as a watch engineer. He was a Baptist and in his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, camping and boating at the Ochlockonee River.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bobbie Sue Atkins; son, Charles Nathan (Danni) Atkins; grandchildren, Rebecca Lauren Atkins and Catherine Elizabeth Atkins; brother, Gary H. (Sandy) Atkins; nieces and nephews, Scott Atkins, Linda (Barry) Russell, Laurie (Terry) Gower, Lisa Atkins, Leanne (David) Maniscalco and Steven (Kimberly) Atkins; mother-in-law, Violet Jackson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Seena Barley, Steve (Debbie) Jackson, Kathe (Aldon) Broyles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Deborah Susan Atkins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Abbey Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM. Interment will be in Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
