Gavin Shelley, beloved son of Lewis and Linda Shelley, died at home in Tallahassee on July 7, 2013. He was born in Hollywood, Florida on March 6, 1982.
Gavin was passionate about many things. He lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and was a faithful friend to many. Gavin was strong in both body and spirit. He was a good man, hard working and compassionate; he always stood up for the underdog.
Gavin graduated from Leon High School and attended Tallahassee and Santa Fe Community Colleges. He was a certified fire fighter and EMT. In recent years, he operated a home repair and painting business. Gavin was a talented athlete, an avid fisherman, and a gifted golfer. He was proud to have played on the defensive line for North Florida Christian when they won the state Football Championship in 1998.
Gavin is survived by his parents, Lewis and Linda Shelley, his brother, James Adam Shelley, his grandmother, Marilyn Dixon, his fiancee, Elizabeth Stenov of St. Petersburg, and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, July 10, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 N. Meridian Road. Family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
